Is it normal for Tesla insurance to take 3 years for an incident?

Hi,

I had a hit-and-run incident on 10/05 last year in a parking lot where another driver hit my car and left. Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  1. Obtained surveillance footage from the store showing the other car hitting mine
  2. Retrieved Tesla Sentry Mode footage and identified the other vehicle’s license plate
  3. Filed a police report (they advised they wouldn’t investigate this type of incident)
  4. Contacted Tesla Insurance, who helped identify the other party’s insurance and suggested I reach out to them
  5. Contacted the other party, but the process has been extremely slow
  6. Repaired my car through Tesla Insurance and paid a $1,000 deductible
  7. Recently followed up with Tesla Insurance about reimbursement of the deductible; they advised it could take up to 3 years and that they haven’t yet begun contacting the other party’s insurance

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced a similar situation. Is it normal for Tesla Insurance to take this long to handle subrogation and reimbursement?

Thank you!

Have someone
