4.5yo at home between moves, what actually keeps kids learning when you can’t do full pre-K?
I just got a job transfer to Texas and had to move pretty quickly. My 4.5yo had just started pre-K, so this whole change disrupted things a bit. Right now I can’t get him into a new program immediately, probably for another month or two until we’re more settled. I’m not really trying to fully homeschool, just looking to keep him engaged and not fall too far out of routine while we figure things out. We do a bit of phonics on weekends and he’s slowly picking up reading, but I’m not sure if that alone is enough. I’ve been thinking of mixing in simple activities during the day and maybe using a few learning apps here and there just as a supplement (not the main thing). I’ve seen people mention Khan Academy and Kiddopia, but curious what’s actually worked for others in a similar situation."
