Pre order inconvenience

What exactly is the purpose of pre-ordering at Lowe’s? I ordered four hours ago, haven’t received a single update on my order. So I drive to the store just to find out that they have no idea what’s going on with my order and haven’t even started pulling it together yet. I was really in a rush today and could’ve used the extra time but apparently that’s not gonna happen.
