Squire mustang/jag or epiphone sg/Les paul

I have got back into playing after a few year current guitar is a mini squire strat and thought I'd get a new one for my 15th birthday. So I first thought the Mustang/jag would be good because of the shorter fretboard but my current is very small so I don't know if I need the smaller one and I like the look of the epiphones more. Also other suggestions should be very helpful thanks in advance.
