Equity Lvl 2 questions long and tedious?

Is it just me or are all the discounted dividend valuation problems exceedingly tedious for calculating the current value of a stock. I mean you want me to calculate each dividend for the next 8 years and then discount each of those before I add the terminal value discount it? Takes a long time, is this how they really ask it on the exam?
