# Champion rank problem

After the recent GeoGuessr rating system update, I was hoping to see more changes for the top-tier players to make the "Champion" rank feel truly prestigious. Unfortunately, the rank remained the broadest in the game, grouping people with 1400 ELO with people like Blinky.

I decided to create my own very simple Tampermonkey script to apply a new rating system and minimal visual tweaks. My goal was to provide a real motivation for Champion players to hit meaningful ELO milestones, like the 2000 ELO Grandmaster mark, instead of grinding without any goal in mind.

The new ranking system works as follows:

|**Emerald II**|1800 – 1899|
|**Emerald III**|1700 – 1799|
|**Platinum I**|1600 – 1699|
|**Platinum II**|1500 – 1599|
|**Platinum III**|1400 – 1499|
|**Platinum IV**|Champion and < 1400|

The script changes ranks in the duels menu, your own profile, and other players' profiles as well.

How to install? For those familiar with Tampermonkey, the process should be rather smooth, as it follows the exact same steps as the other scripts.

1. Install the Tampermonkey Chrome extension using [this link](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo)
2. Make sure to enable [developer mode](https://www.tampermonkey.net/faq.php?locale=en#Q209) in your browser and allow Tampermonkey to use user scripts
3. Click on [this link](https://github.com/TomBer0x/Better-Geo-Ranks/raw/main/better-geo-ranks.user.js) and follow the instructions on the screen to install the script
4. Open a new browser window and check if the script works properly (remember that you need to be in the Champion division for it to make any changes)

And yes, it's a very simple script changing hue, colour, and text, but that was exactly the idea.

I redesigned the GeoGuessr ranking system and duels menu for Champion players! I wrote a simple Tampermonkey script to replace the rating gap in the Champion rank with 9 new elo-based ranks (Emerald, Grandmaster, etc.)
