Title: ASUS RT-BE9700 (BE92U) stuck at 80MHz (1200Mbps link) while a basic ISP router hits 2400Mbps. Urban area issues?

Issue:
My ASUS RT-BE9700 (FW 3.0.0.6.102_38980) fails to maintain a 160MHz channel width on both 5GHz and 6GHz bands. Despite forcing 160MHz in settings and clearing DFS (or using non-DFS channel 36), the link speed on all devices (Intel AX211, S23 Ultra, various laptops) is capped at 80MHz width (<1200Mbps).

Key Observations:

  • Comparison: A standard ISP-provided Wi-Fi 6 Gateway (Sagemcom) sitting next to the ASUS achieves a stable 2402Mbps link on the same devices/channels.
  • Scope: Problem persists across four different devices (Wi-Fi 6E/7) and two identical ASUS units (intended for AiMesh).
  • 6GHz Band: Even on 6GHz (zero DFS/interference), the link speed stays at 80MHz (<1200Mbps), occasionally spiking to 1700Mbps before dropping back.
  • Settings Tested: MLO Disabled, Smart Connect Disabled, Fixed Channel 36, 160MHz forced, Agile Multiband On/Off, WPA2/WPA3 tested, Wireless Router vs. AP mode tested – no change.
  • Environment: Urban area. The ISP router handles it perfectly, while the flagship ASUS seems to "panic" and drops to 80MHz width despite no active radar detections in the logs.
  1. Is anyone else using this BE-series router in a crowded urban environment and getting a stable 160MHz/2400Mbps link on 5GHz/6GHz?
  2. Is this a known firmware/driver bug with Broadcom Wi-Fi 7 chips in AP Mode regarding channel width negotiation?
  3. How did you force the ASUS to stop being "over-sensitive" to ambient noise that the basic ISP router simply ignores?
