My Isotretinoin experience + before/after + Lip balms review
Hi!
I am about 7 months post-accutane and quite happy with the results and the process itself (I live in Europe)
I used it for 6 months my dosage was 20mg/day for 2 weeks, then 80mg/day for the rest.
My symptoms:
- very very dry lips
- slightly dry skin around the nose
- scratches taking forever to heal
- on and off eczema on my hands
- pain in my legs and feet almost constant for 6 months (especially in the evening)
- pro: never oily hair :)
Overall, it was a fine experience, the only annoying parts were the dry lips and tired legs
I have tried different lip balms, this is my honest review:
- Linolips: 7/10 decent effect, but terrible texture and feeling, I also feel like it works as long as you have it on, once it dries - that's it. I tried both the neutral and scented ones.
- Acquaphor sos lips: 10/10 nothing to say, it did the job like nothing else
- Acquaphor lip repair immediate relief: 10/10 same as above
- Essence 8/10 - the super peptide glossy lip treatment: oddly enough, I liked it a lot, and it costs less than 2€. It's not as strong as Acquaphor but it did the job when I didn't have anything else.
- I have also tried some different chopsticks from the pharmacy, but didn't like any of them and even forgot their names lol
My current routine is:
AM
- Vitamin C or purito centella serum
- Moisturiser
- SPF 50
PM
- double cleansing (oil- and water-based)
- LED mask
- adapalene or azelaic acid
- purito centella serum (sometimes)
- moisturiser
During accutane I simplified the routine by removing active ingredients and it worked well for me, I didn't have very dry skin.
