How does your school handle students who are disruptive on field trips?

Teacher Support &/or Advice

I just came back from a 2 night trip for an academic competition. 80 students and 10 adults. This is my 7th time taking kids on this trip….and it was the WORST behavior I have ever had on a trip. It of course wasn’t the whole group, but it was like 20 students who were rolling in a pack just being rediculous. We had to speak to the several times, myself and my coadviser were pulled into the directors office over one incident and by the last day we were told if there was another issue our whole school would be disqualified. I was so embarrassed. I felt so bad for my good kids who didn’t get to celebrate their wins with a fun happy teacher. Looking back I should have called parents to come get their kids but it went by fast and I was being pulled in a bunch of different directions.

Thankfully I spoke to my admin this am and we will be removing the offenders from the club and they will not be moving on to the next level if they qualified. But one thing my colleague and I brought up was should these kids be on a list blocking them from trips for a certain amount of time? They are high achieving kids so they all have trips coming up with varies activities. What do you guys think? How does your school handle these things?
