New e-Visa rules apply for Skilled Worker Visa?

Hello, I am planning to apply for a skilled worker visa from the US. I am an Indian Passport holder. From what I understand, you no longer need to submit your passport for a UK visa, is that applicable for Skilled Worker Visa as well?

Do I just need to carry my passport when go to submit my photo and biometrics, and not worry about shipping my passport to the UKVI office in NY?

Anyone who has done this recently?
