I used to be the one constantly reaching out to people, now I don't feel like I want to put the effort in, how do I motivate myself?

Social Struggles

As the title says, when I was a teenager and dealing with social difficulties from autism I thought the way you maintained relationships (Because I didn't learn that lesson in early childhood) was that you needed to consistently reach out to people.

I exhausted myself and burned myself out trying to consistently reach out to people every day or every other day to a few days to say "Hi, how are things? How are you doing?" and just generally check up on people and chat, both as a young child and as a teenager because I thought that's what you do in friendships based on what other people told me.

However I never got that in return, it was constantly people thinking of me as the "weird probably autistic guy" who keeps bothering them about how their day was or asking them a bunch of questions, which I would try to make about their interests but it didn't work.

Now as an adult, or at least, when I became an adult I simply stopped trying. I didn't put in any effort into reaching out to anyone and most of the people took the silent route and just let the relationship fade away.

I want to break this cycle, but part of me doesn't even want to put in any effort, I don't even know where to begin with motivating myself though! I feel like I want relationships but have stopped feeling and desire to put effort into maintaining them like I used to. What is there to do, is there baby steps I could take?
