Driving a car with Salik fines – advice needed!

Hi Dubai fam, I’m currently looking after my cousin’s car while he’s abroad. I checked the RTA/Dubai Police app and noticed AED 500 in fines, all from Salik.

My main concerns are:

1. Can I get pulled over or have the car impounded because of these unpaid Salik fines?

2. Since the car is in his name, will this affect me as the driver in any way?

3. Should I top up the Salik account myself to stop more fines from piling up, or is the damage already done?

Appreciate any insight from anyone who has dealt with this before!
