I’ve had him nearly a year. For reference he’s my second dog ever, my childhood Chihuahua passed away. Just a reference I’m only familiar with chihuahuas. But the shelter said my new dog is a chihuahua, but he has some odd quirks.

He is walked twice or once day, let into the backyard as well, we play with a flirt pole or play with his stuffed animals. Or I’ll do things like hide treats in blankets or boxes so he can tear them up to find it. The odd behaviors are one such as STARING. He approaches me and sits right by me, and locks eyes for an unusual amount of time. I’ll try offering a toy, but he just stares. Once i offer my lap he will lay on it. Or he begins doing this weird slow walk, like a crouch, towards me and does an odd growl, looking at me more intensely- it’s honestly creepy. He’s never hurt me or shown true aggression. He’ll immediately stop the weird crouch and growl and want to immediately play or cuddle. He’s well behaved, he’s not interested in playing with other dogs, he’s very human oriented. At dog parks he would follow other people and get in their laps..

He does show a concerning amount of aggression towards any small animals- he screams his head off when i pull him away from frogs or snakes and he is always actively searching for anything under boards, grass, near the shed, etc. He has had all his vaccines and check-ups, besides being a senior, he’s in good health.
