Casino Chips Sweet Spot
Hey all!
I'm running a minigame type of thing soon for my players in the feywild. Basically a 3-floor thing where the first floor is casino games like blackjack, roulette, and a mini fighting pit where they bet on (and control) low CR monsters, etc., then the 2nd floor is a multiple-step puzzle with riddles, then the 3rd floor is going to be a combat for the PCs.
All that being said, they are trying to get through the house by "beating" each floor. For the 1st floor with the casino games, I was going to give them chips to bet with and not let them "beat" the floor until the reach a certain threshold of chips to "buy" their way to the next floor.
In there, there's also the possibility of sacrificing some of their mechanical resources (ki, sorcerer, spell slots, etc.) to buy enough chips in case they want to bypass the floor.
How many chips should I give them to start, how much should the buy-in of my 3 games be, what should be the threshold for them to hit to clear the floor, and how much should their resources be worth to buy more chips? Does anyone have experience in doing this?
