what is critical analysis/ appraisal?

I have to write my stupid diss and one section of it is about critical analysis, I am so confusedd 😭 I have not done anything like it before and it’s not a simple critical analysis section because I have to use specific tools. Anyone got any advice? My brain is fried from trying to figure this out.
