Men alone with last woman on earth

Hey guys, i am in a relationship with a man and i am very vocal about my feminism and talk about it to him a lot and he supports my thesises. However, yesterday i asked him, what he would do if a helpless woman with no vocal cords would be gifted to him (a scenario from the book "tender is the flesh").

He said he would not rape her (that was the main topic of the question) and if he had sexual desires he would just find a consenting partner. BUT then HE said that the hard question would be, what would happen if that was the last woman on earth and that then he bets most men would rape the woman and that he could not say whether he would also do it or not.

This really struck me to be honest, because to me it seems, that this is the view he has of men and thereby himself: if theres only one woman left and no other consenting female partner, men have to rape the woman because of their sexual desires and because they cannot and will not control them. He justified this by saying that this was such an incredibly hypothetical scenario that there was no way of him telling what he would actually do.

He did revise this answer later and understood why it made me sad and how it is about principle...

But I also had to apologize to him because he felt i was projecting my hate for men onto him.

I am honestly deeply shaken by his answer and I wanted to ask what you guys think.
