How to help correct my daughter’s behavior
Hi! First time poster here, I have an autistic 5 year old daughter who in the last 3-6 months-ish has begun to absolutely lose it when our dogs (7F and 13M) lay down. I have no idea where it’s coming from, our newest solution that seems to help is sending her to her room to calm down. She isn’t locked up, she has total control on when she comes back down to rejoin us, and has even begun taking herself up when she knows she’s getting overwhelmed. I’m at a total loss on how to help her, it’s become a daily occurrence and I don’t want her upset to the point she gets every single day, and she can’t communicate why it upsets her the way it does. She isn’t nonverbal, just more uncommunicative. She can tell me her needs but not how her day at school was.
The dogs are gentle and patient with her, and have even learned themselves to get up sometimes when she walks in the room and I hate that for them. Especially for the 13 year old as we believe he’s only got a few months left in him. I just want to help her but I’m at a total loss on this
