discrimination
Hi, so i am a waitress in Pennsylvania. i am also transgender, and am not open about it. when i joined my job it was prior to my name change, so i explained to my employer why i look female but my license said otherwise. i was told she would keep it under wraps and not let anyone find out. i have since had my name legally changed and all of my documents to reflect this.
i have had no issues at my job, no issues with anyone addressing my correctly because there is no reason not to. i do not look like anyone would second guess. fast forward to a co-worker for whatever reason thinking i was talking about her and coming up to me infront of my co-workers, yelling at me and deadnaming me. i did not react, i called the manger and let her know which she came in and sent me home even after she deadnamed me infront of the manager and continued to let her work. would i have a case for sex based discrimination? i still have a text from the dame co worker where she addressed me correctly and asks me to cover a shift. i am young, and new to the area and transitioned early. this is not info anyone would be able to find unless they went to elementary school with me which she did not as she is nearly 40.
