I shut down my email parsing SaaS and open sourced the whole thing
A few months ago, I built ParseMyMail – a tool for automation builders who are tired of writing regex and brittle rules to extract data from emails. Forward an email, describe the fields you want in plain English, get clean JSON in your webhook.
Building it solo taught me a ton: talking to users, figuring out positioning, learning that, for me, marketing is harder than coding, and discovering that "people say they want it" and "people will pay for it" are very different things.
Turns out, not enough people were willing to pay, and that's okay.
Rather than let it rot on a private repo, I decided to open source the whole thing. You can now fork it, self-host it, break it apart and use the pieces ✌️
