Why am I so obsessed with googling random stuff all the time?

I’ve noticed this about myself for a while now and I’m wondering if anyone else relates.

I constantly feel the urge to look things up. And I don’t mean important stuff, just completely random questions that pop into my head. It’ll be like "how remote is a certain desert?" or "what’s the population of some random country.” Once the thought hits, I feel like I have to Google it or it’ll bother me.

The weird part is half the time I forget what I just looked up like 10 minutes later. It’s more like scratching an itch in my brain. If I don’t look it up, I feel kind of restless or distracted. Sometimes it gets annoying because I’ll be in the middle of doing something and suddenly I’m down a rabbit hole of random searches. One question leads to another and before I know it, 30 minutes are gone.

Part of me feels like it’s just curiosity, but part of me wonders if it’s something else, like a habit or even a mild addiction to instant answers. Does anyone else do this? Is this just how our brains are wired now with phones and the internet, or is there something deeper going on?
