**Chapter 26:** My senior brother dies. I break down. She holds me. I think I'm in love.

**Chapter 27:** Finally tell her my whole story. She tells me her name. We make the pact. Best day of my life.

**Chapter 28:** She offers to bandage my thigh. I blush. She's seen worse. UTTERLY Embarrassing. I manage to dodge.

**Chapter 29:** She asks if I'm human. I say "***not quite normal***”. She tells me I didn't grow crooked. I ask to call her Simu. She lets me.

**Chapter 30:** (Probably just staring at each other. Don't blame me). Oh yes, I am injured and have to face a camp full of people who want me dead. I put on some fashionable lightweight armor.

**Chapter 31:** She borrows my sense of touch, explores my face, asks me to bite her, and says “***pain***" like it's fascinating. I'm losing my mind.

**Chapter 32:** She loses her powers. I tickle her. She threatens to kill me. I say, “***I'll live for ten days”***. Worth it.

**Chapter 33**: She feels the wind for the first time. She looks like a kid on a sugar rush. I'm done for.

**Chapter 34:** She dreams of her parents. I watch her sleep like a normal person. Totally normal. Isn’t it?

**Chapter 35:** Some daoist accuses her of being an evil spirit. I'm away. Not great.

**Chapter 36:** She gets framed. ~~Our~~ My ‘adopted son / brother’ steals her pendant. She just watches. She's terrifying when calm.

**Chapter 37:** She takes multiple spiritual knives for the kid, survives a night of torture, and tells me, “***it hurts***”. I'm not okay.

**Chapter 38:** She tells Chen Ying she doesn't love me. I tell Chen Ying I love her. I'm playing the long game.

**Chapter 39:** She tickles me back. I laugh so hard I cry. She pauses because I look happy. She's the one who makes me happy. Hello.

**Chapter 40:** A six-hundred-year-old kid ghost gives me dating advice. He's not wrong.

**Chapter 41:** Kiss her while she's ***asleep*** (uncomfortable forced kiss? Not quite) She watches with her eyes open. She lets me. Assassins interrupt. Timing is everything.

**Chapter 42:** She goes to smell firewood. I call her adorable. She doesn't hear. I say it louder. She doesn't hear. I'll say it forever.

**Chapter 43:** She gets trapped in an illusion of her childhood trauma. She breaks out because she smells my sachet. I'm her anchor. I'm her anchor.

**Chapter 44:** I burn down a garden, embrace her from behind, and claim I'm being "unrestrained." She doesn't push me away. I'm winning.

**Chapter 45:** Lu Da remembers me building sandcastles as a kid. He offers friendship before we become enemies. I take it. Then I hear she's going to the capital. Off we go.

**Chapter 46:** She brings me to her ghost city, hangs me at the gate for two days. I'm just dangling there like a decoration, watching her execute a traitor. She looks hot doing it.

**Chapter 47:** I confess my love. She says I don't understand her. I say I want to. She says she doesn't need me to. Then she doesn't send me away. So. That happened.

**Chapter 48:** Discover the Golden Wall where her laws are carved. Realize she's basically the Shang Yang of ghosts (hated by everyone, protecting everyone). She's been doing this alone for centuries. I'm not crying, you're crying.

**Chapter 49:** Walk into a prison designed to trap souls forever. My heart candle gets cut. I'm in total darkness. I ask Jiang Ai to bet on me. If I survive, she tells me about Simu's childhood. I'm either brave or insane. Probably both.

**Chapter 50:** She comes for me. Cuts her hand on my sword. Holds my face. Says "wake up." I do. She shares her heart candle with me. I tell her no one's ever come for me before. She says she came to get me. I'm keeping her. Forever.
