MSc in Finance, Grande École or university?

I am an international student from Yemen, and as the title suggests, I am pursuing MiF in France, but I am uncertain if the program-administering institution matters.

My goal is to settle in France after landing a job after graduating in the industry, currently not aiming for higher-caliber finance roles such as IB, but of course that would be great.
My French friend says that écoles de commerce is an expensive scam and that I am better off focusing on public universities rather than private ones.
Lastly, I don't mind learning the language, and I am currently learning French during my senior year in Yemen.

Any suggestions, tips, or advice are highly welcome. :)
