I finally finished writing all chapter summaries from Duan Xu’s perspective. I fell for Simu head over heels as I wrote about her from his perspective. I wonder how others feel about the couple and their unique circumstances.

Has anyone picked up the novel? Or dropped the drama? I am very close to dropping the drama.

# Duan Xu's Unofficial Fanboy Recap (Chapters 51 –75)

**Chapter 51:** Tell her about the prophecy, about executing people with my own birthday, about carrying their deaths. She holds me. I ask if my nightmare is over. She says "I won't allow it." ***I'm hers*** 🥹

**Chapter 52:** She takes me to the graves of her twenty-two mortal lovers. Can't remember the first one's name. Tells me she'll forget me too. I say nothing. Then I go to the first grave and say "*She's a jerk, isn't she?*" Because I get it. She's letting me go. I'm not going.

**Chapter 53:** Return to the Southern Capital. My father wants me to marry some noble daughter. I smile and nod. Then I ask him about his childhood sweetheart and about my mother's first fiancé. I know my parents never loved each other. I won't make the same mistake.

**Chapter 54:** Visit my mother in the Buddhist hall. She wipes Chen Ying's tears. She never wiped mine. I don't hate her. I understand her. I just don't need her anymore. I have Simu.

**Chapter 55:** Tell my sister I like a girl "*who doesn't exist in this world.*" She prays for [Chang'e](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang%27e) to descend. Then she meets Fang Xianye sheltering from rain. He has the same scar I do. Same bandit attack. Hmm.

**Chapter 56:** Fang Xianye and I are secret allies. I staged my own exile. He blackmailed corrupt officials to fund the war. We've been pretending to hate each other for ten years. Also, I ask if he likes my sister. He chokes on his tea. Interesting.

**Chapter 57:** See a crow candy figurine in the street. Run through the rain, grab a stranger's hand. It's her. She pretends not to know me. I say my name, her name. She admits it. She came to the capital. She didn't come for me. But she came.

**Chapter 58:** Walk home in the rain, umbrella unused. Realize I love her. Not because she's beautiful, not because she's powerful . . . Because she's the **first person** who came for me. I'll chase her until I can't run.

**Chapter 59:** Announce my engagement to Wang Suyi. It's a lie. She's in love with someone else. I'm clearing the field. Also, Simu says she knows I won't marry someone I don't like. She knows me.

**Chapter 60:** Save Fang Xianye from assassins—again. Then I call Simu. She appears. I introduce her to him. She's my "dear friend." Then I ask her to come to my wedding. As a trade. She says yes. She's coming to watch me marry someone else. I'm insane.

**Chapter 61:** My sister tells me a woman came to the perfumery, ordered my fragrance, named it "Duan Shunxi." I smile. She couldn't smell it, but she wanted to carry my scent. She's in love with me. I'm in love with her. ***We're both idiots.***

**Chapter 62:** Jin Yan, the incorruptible judge, calls me in. He knows I forged the horse administration evidence. He lets me go. Tells me falsehood cannot lead to truth. I leave, carrying her umbrella, and go to Feng Yi.

**Chapter 63:** Feng Yi tells me about Simu's journal. The girl who loved red, who pestered her mother for clothes, who stopped writing when her father died. He asks me to make her time flow again. I will.

**Chapter 64:** Feng Yi traps the Yao Ghost Palace Master. Simu appears. The ghost offers to tell her who killed her father. She laughs. She's known for three hundred years. She's been waiting. My wife is terrifying.

**Chapter 65:** I ride to my fake wedding. Look up at the roof. She's there. I use a talisman to give her my sense of color. The first color she sees is me in red. Worth it.

**Chapter 66:** My "bride" runs off with her childhood sweetheart. I stage a kidnapping. Swear never to marry until Danzhi is destroyed. I've cleared the field. The space beside me is hers. Empty, waiting, forever.

**Chapter 67:** She asks what I want for a wedding gift. I say I want to be the twenty-third grave. She says yes. I kiss her. She accepts. I've won.

**Chapter 68:** My sister walks in on us. Accuses her of corrupting me. She says I seduced her. My sister doesn't know who to believe. I'm not telling.

**Chapter 69:** She paints plum blossoms on my back. Asks about the scar on my waist. I tell her it was a slave mark. I burned it off. She traces the ice crack patterns on my scars and says winter is ending. I'm healing.

**Chapter 70:** Fang Xianye asks why I'm so happy. I tell him my life's wish now includes marrying into her family (another matrilocal husband) . He says I'm insane. I agree.

**Chapter 71**: She watches me play polo. I play for her. She shouts for me. She's never shouted before. She's lived four hundred years, and she's finally alive.

**Chapter 72:** She leaves. I visit Luo Xian. My sister thinks I'm heartless. I'm not. I'm just waiting.

**Chapter 73:** Luo Xian presents the Tianluo manual to the court. Fang Xianye gets the Border Inspector post. I volunteer to build my own army. We're winning.

**Chapter 74:** Wang Qi tries to kidnap my sister. Simu appears. Kills his men. Tortures him. My sister is terrified. Simu offers a scroll for her to hold instead of her hand. My sister takes it. Simu says "very good." I'm so proud.

**Chapter 75:** I tell her to remember me for a hundred years. She kisses me. That's her answer. We speak the same love language.
