Toxic work or over analysing?

Career Advice

I’ve been in a new position for approx 10 weeks. I annoyingly didn’t trust my initial gut feeling, I think I’ve made a mistake. I’m really starting to see red flags and am thinking, yeah I’m not sure this was the best decision.

For context I needed a job at the time and time was not on my side.

> reasons why:

- No onboarding process & bare minimal training of company software (I had to ask another male staff member where the toilets where for example)

- “I don’t want to spend time on training; you need to hit the ground running” I’m in a new industry, some skill sets are transferable but I’m not technically proficient in the area we operate.

- Sales review: I made $X this month; the business was expecting $Y. The $X amount I felt was a decent 5 figure sum for someone with limited training & onboarding with client base. The $Y was triple. I asked is there a realistic number that would make you comfortable. “No $Y is it” no real strategic plan just triple your sales.

- Toxic office staff led by one of the key decision makers, often very belittling language used and the very utterance of change is quashed despite its possible benefits

Upside:

- great pay

- my initial team is awesome and we get along well

- company car + fuel

- some flexibility (WFH etc)

Big picture

I’m a pretty resilient person, I’ve had shit bosses/employers like everyone, however I’m not sure this is the best.

Is this a case of new job jitters or start looking at new opportunities & then run forest run!!
