Fantasy book set on a Nordic/Scandinavian Island

Was supposed to read this book, but never finished it and it’s eating me alive. It was split in to multiple sections, and each section was a different story set on this island going back in time. The first section followed a journalist (?) on some small northern island. He rented a bike to get around the island and everywhere he went was just slightly down hill and easy to get to, except for this one hill. And that’s really all I remember about the story.

I think it had something about the moon in the title, like blood moon or harvest moon or something. And the cover was dark. Please Help!!
