avoiding catching feelings too fast
I’m a 28M and recently developed a crush on a girl at work. We’re both East Indian, so arranged marriage is something families consider if we don’t find someone ourselves. While chatting, I found out her parents had started looking for matches.
I tried to keep things subtle for a couple of months and asked her for coffee once, but she declined. After about 4 months, we started talking more, exchanged numbers and Instagram, and had long conversations for a couple of days.
Then I shared details about a recent casual relationship, and she pulled back, saying the gap was too short for her comfort.
Now I realize I got emotionally invested too quickly and even started imagining a future with her, which is hurting now. I’m trying to understand how to avoid catching feelings this fast or overthinking situations like this in the future.
