How many stores have "Happy to Help" Associates?
I really wish I could come up with the name because a TL in Pharmacy said something about us having them before the remodel last year, but apparently there were these associates who would walk around the store basically taking the full blunt of "hey excuse me can you unlock a case for me" or "can you tell me where this is?" or "excuse me, this app tells me you have the item, where is it? *Points at phone which is on amazon, com, or Walmart app with the location 400 miles away*"
Our supercenter doesn't have them. Apparently? Our market manager decided we didn't need them. So it's not even a role we can apply to. It's not something we can transfer to either. But since our store doesn't have them, my department (OPD) has been taking the full hit of that. I'm talking from 10am to 3pm, nobody can get a pick walk speed above 120. 140 in your dreams. 150 is rarer than winning the Powerball... Later in the day? TLs and coaches yelling at us to do our pick walks and to get faster, whereas as soon as we step foot outside the backroom we get a question or five we have to answer, which many people have complained about and their speeds drop as low as 40.
Does your store have these "Happy to Help" associates? If not, do other departments just take the blunt of the rampage? (Seems too strong of a word but holy crud does it feel exhausting. 😭)
With our store, every associate is required to wear the "Happy to Help" vest. I honestly haven't seen very many stores that have the role still, if it's being phased out by AI or what. But right now it's just slightly irritating for OPD who are supposed to be getting our customers' orders taken care of, and then yelled at by physical customers we aren't helping them... 💔
(I am an actual associate btw.)
