Connected TV is growing quickly, but monetization still feels very mobile-focused. Anyone else seeing this?
I feel like something is a bit off in the creator economy right now, and I’m curious if others feel the same.
Watching YouTube on TV is becoming more and more common. A lot of people are using smart TVs, game consoles, and other devices. For some channels, TV is already one of the top devices.
But monetization still feels very mobile-focused.
Affiliate links, description links, and pinned comments all assume the viewer can easily click. That works fine on a phone, but not so much when someone is sitting on a couch watching on a TV.
So it feels like monetization tools are evolving more slowly than viewing behavior.
I’m not saying the current tools don’t work, but they seem built for a different context.
If you run a channel or work with brands, do you think monetization is keeping up with how people watch YouTube now, or is there a gap?
