Caruana breaks his losing streak against Nakamura in an 80-move marathon — Candidates R1 Game of the Day
Caruana went for 1.Nf3, sidestepping his usual repertoire, and Nakamura gradually fell behind on the clock. The game ground on for six hours into a tense endgame where both players made mistakes — but the decisive one was Nakamura's 80...Ke7? instead of 80...Kc7!, which would have held the draw. The moment 81.Kc6! appeared, Nakamura knew it was over.

Caruana had lost 5 of their last 12 classical games going in, so this is a big monkey off his back at the biggest possible moment.
