1099-MISC Issued from non-resident state based company

I did a job interview in California and the company reimbursed my travel expenses but issued a 1099-MISC for less than $1000. I live in a state that doesn’t have state income tax. Do I need to file a tax return in California for the single 1099-MISC? Or is including it solely on my federal tax return enough?
