Japanese life pre-economic bubble

My question is perhaps a bit of an odd one. I have always learned that pre-economic bubble Japan had an amazing economy with stocks going through the roof and that gor Japanese households, everything was was available: tv’s, phone’s, cars etc.

How was life for a ‘standard’ household in the 1980’s pre-bubble?
