25y/o, 28k gross monthly salary, multi-role job in a confusing company. Should I tolerate this or leave?
For context, the company I work in has a flat/horizontal organizational structure. Everyone reports directly to the General Manager (GM), and some, including myself, report to both the GM and CEO. We don’t have middle management (or maybe it’s just unclear?). Currently working in the office of a manufacturing company that sells coffee beans, powders, and coffee machines.
This is my first job, and I’m reaching 2 years this May. I got promoted from “Sales” to “Sales and Administrative Assistant” within my first year. I’ve received a lot of benefits and opportunities that aren’t usually given to rank-and-file employees, and I’m aware that it’s because the GM and CEO see me as capable.
However, this is where my problem lies.
I do EVERYTHING from sales, marketing, management, shopify, events, and stuff my GM and CEO need. And internal coordination or support from other employees? Wala kang maaasahan. I end up doing everything myself because everyone else is either overloaded with their own extra roles or just doing the bare minimum daily.
I’ve already raised this with both the GM and CEO multiple times, but hiring or replacing people seems to be at the bottom of the priority list. We’re also very understaffed, so almost everyone holds dual roles. Sucks because I’m currently handling like 3-4 roles, and it’s not even in my contract haha. Sometimes I wish I gave the bare minimum at the onset because I wouldn't be here taking (voluntary) unpaid overtimes just to keep the company afloat someway somehow.
Don’t get me wrong. I genuinely love my job and the work that I do. I see the growth potential in this industry and in the skills I’m building. But I can’t keep doing everything by myself forever, diba? But if I leave, they will have a hard time too. (I rage quitted for 3 days and I saw how messy they became).
Also recently, I planned an entire national event on my own. No marketing team, no events team. Just me. A national event for an international company for goodness sake???
But, yeah, I honestly just want to hear from people who’ve been in a similar situation, or those with more experience and other similar stuff. My parents work in completely different industries, and their career paths were more straightforward. The only thing they can really relate to is living paycheck to paycheck. They’re also starting to worry that I’m basically doing the job of 4 people every day.
Any advice or insights would really help!!! Thank you 🥹🫶🏻
