Why Would Itadori Not Go to Sendai Colony in the Culling Games?

Obviously, it doesn't really matter, but seeing as how Itadori is from Sendai (and especially since we see later on how much being from Sendai means to him and shapes him as a person), wouldn't it make more sense if he went to Sendai Colony instead of Tokyo Colony 1?

Also, Gege isn't slick making Sendai the toughest colony to survive in (as Gege is also from Sendai for those who do not know).
