Does anyone else find it 10x easier to "explain" your video out loud than to actually write it down?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been struggling with my pre-production workflow lately and I wanted to see if I’m the only one.
I’ve noticed a weird pattern: When I’m walking the dog or talking to a friend, I can explain a complex video topic perfectly in 5 minutes. The energy is there, the flow is natural, and I know exactly what I want to say.
But the moment I sit down in front of a blank Google Doc to "Script" it? My brain just... freezes.
Every sentence feels "robotic," I start self-editing every word, and what should have taken 10 minutes ends up taking 2 hours of staring at a blinking cursor. It feels like there’s a massive friction between my "Speaking Brain" and my "Typing Brain."
How are you guys handling this?
- Do you force yourself to sit at the desk until it's done?
- Do you use voice memos and then try to transcribe them later? (I find this part the most tedious)
- Or do you just "wing it" without a script?
I feel like mastering this "Capture" phase is the only way I'm going to reach my goal of 1 video per week. Would love to hear your hacks or if you feel the same struggle!
