Is this normal?

Idk if this is normal but I’ve had my period for about 2-3 years now and every time I am on my period, I don’t change my underwear everyday (I change about every 2 days ish). It may sound kinda gross but I use really big pads and my underwear doesn’t touch anything dirty per se. I also have only ever washed my clothes when they’re dirty (I grew up this way) to save water, and stuff like that. Is this normal? When I asked my friend she said she does the same thing occasionally too, but I wanted to know if anyone else does this but me and my friend.
