I want to get my IUD removed, but I’m scared of the process.

Experience

I (21F) have had my Kyleena iud just over 4 years now. Overall it’s prevented pregnancy (thank god) but my periods have been so inconsistent and my cramps are AWFUL. Like curl up in bed and cry and get waves of nausea because of how painful they are. And 90% of the time, I feel like I can feel the iud inside me, mostly on the left side. Like there’s always a pressure there.

I also put 2 and 2 together recently and figured out that it made me gain weight, and my acne came back. I kinda assumed it was alcohol, but I stopped drinking and my weight hasn’t changed and neither has my acne.

My boyfriend has a vasectomy (I love him so bad) and he tells me if it’s causing me so much discomfort, I should just say eff it and get it removed? I really really want to, but the kicker is that I am SO afraid of the doctors office. Any of them. I threw up during my insertion, and I get so anxious and queasy anytime I have to go to any doctor.

Does anyone have any positive experiences? Or any advice to help me feel better about the whole thing? I would really appreciate any kind words or thoughts.

I will update as soon as I make my decision/ get it removed.
