Intake Manifold and Valve Cleaning

Given that my 2004 Silverado (5.3 V8) isn't direct injection, would y'all recommend cleaning the carbon buildup on the intake manifold and intake valves? It's high mileage, 242k. My OCD would like all the carbon removed but if it's not necessary then I probably won't bother.
