this just really bugs me. "how dare an autistic person be functioning?!"

i'm diagnosed type 1 autism. i have some obvious symptoms when i look at my behaviours. yeah i get it. i'm very comparable to Donnie from Rise of the TMNT.

it just really annoys me when autism is only seen as non-functioning. as someone who really genuinely enjoys classic literature and tech, and will yap about it for hours, i've gotten some nasty looks from teachers and people who know about my diagnosis.

apparently it's illegal for an autistic person to have a good vocabulary and have hyperfixations on something other than trains. tf? why is this the normal mindset?

folks who can't articulate their feelings are often given correct and special treatment, as they should be. they deserve it, they need it. i won't oppose. it just really annoys me that people like me are overlooked. just because i appear to be like others doesn't mean i am.
