Pc idea
For context I am 17yr going into my senior year and I will need a laptop with a good battery and performance for collage and hopefully most of senior year as its easier. I also would like some gaming performance but everyone knows gaming laptops are bulky, heavy and die fast.
I had the idea to get a good laptop with an amazing cpu, ram, and battery. then I could clone and replace the nvme drive to save money as I have a 2tb one already. now this alone would have terrible gaming performance so I was thinking for at home, I could plug 1 thunderbolt cable into an EGPU to charge my laptop and go to my monitors/keyboard/mouse. this would work well.
For the laptop I was thinking the HP Omnibook Ultra with the core ultra 7H, 32gb ram. this laptop has amazing battery life, is light and compact at 14 inches (perfect for me). and is aluminum. when its on sale its around 1200 dollars.
the egpu can get quite pricey as the housing unit is 400 and the gpu is 500, so im looking at 2100+ dollars for this setup.
I may wait for thunderbolt 5 to come to the omnibook for 2-3x the speeds.
any tips? I want good gaming performance for my setup at home, easy to un-plug my laptop and take it to work/school, lasts forever and is fast.
