I think my roommate is messing with my partner's meds???

Okay so, I've (30f) had a crazy roommate (30m) for the last 2 years. I unfortunately was not in the financial position to get my own place this year, so we just resigned a lease this month.

I won't go into the details of the awful things he does, basically everything that's probably in a lot of other posts. (steals food, extremely messy, doesn't pay bills, etc.)

It's been hell, but something new has been going on.

My partner lives with us, not on the lease. Context.

So, recently I have had suspicions that my roommate has been coming into my bedroom when I'm not home. A couple weeks ago, I asked him to stop coming into my room without asking. For instance, he kept telling me he was putting the mail on my bed, which is weird and unnecessary? After that it was putting the bag of cat food in my room (we didn't have storage before so I kept it in my room but we since have gotten storage and he knew that.)

He did tell me he went in my room. He didn't ask. And I had suspicions that he was taking things or moving things around. It was a very uncomfy feeling.

So, the last several days my suspicions have heightened. I've been gaslighting myself this whole time but today I confirmed it. My partner and I are really never home. When we've been getting home, my bedroom door is shut tightly. This is not normal, I never shut my bedroom door the entire way, by tightly I mean I have to turn the knob to open it. We only ever shut it enough that the cats don't get in. It's an old building and the door just kind of sticks and I can push it open but the cats can't.

Last night I was really confused and fed up, not understanding why he was coming in or what he was taking. Now, since my partner and I are never home, we use paper plates and plastic forks. Partially because we work so much we don't have the energy to do dishes, and partly all of the plates and forks and such are being hoarded in my roommate's bedroom.

In my fit of anger/confusion last night, I noticed that the area where we keep the forks and plates wasn't right. There was a fork sticking up out of the box. I'm weird about my utensils and I was the last one in them so I know I didn't leave it like that. Which brings me to this morning.

Before we left I took a picture of the area where we keep the eating things, along with the bedroom door shut how we normally shut it. We got home a while ago and my bedroom door was shut tight. Turn the knob tight. We went in and compared the photo to the food stuff and it looked almost the same, but my partner pointed out how things were moved just slightly in comparison to the photo. We looked around more to see what he may have taken. My partner has a whole pack of Gatorade that has been picked through. (We started keeping dry goods in our room because he takes them.) He's been stealing our cotton swabs. Neither of us use them very often at all, and the entire pack of 250 is almost gone. My roommate uses them like crazy and he's been out for a while.

The one thing that had my partner concerned is their prescription of Gabapentin. The cotton swabs and Gabapentin are kept in the same drawer in our room. We did the math and things aren't adding up.

The last time my partner picked them up from the pharmacy was in late January, and they get a month's supply. 3 pills a day. We checked the pharmacy app, and they haven't picked them up since then. My partner has had a TBI so they are very forgetful, so not noticing that they haven't picked them up isn't unusual, and I don't touch them so I didn't even know the dosage/quantity or anything.

The weird part is that they STILL have the same script from January. Have not picked them up since then. It's been two months since they've supposed to have been out. Now, I would assume that my roommate would be stealing them, but I wouldn't have a clue why there would be extra for some reason?

We were curious if he's taking them and replacing them. We looked at some of the pills and flipping them over, some of the print on the pills (they're tablets) is right side up on both sides, while others are upside down on one side. I did Google and it said that can happen at the manufacturer. We wanted to be extra cautious so we tested the pills with fentanyl and xylazine test strips. Everything came up negative.

I just don't have a clue what could be going on, whether that's something on my partner's end (which makes no sense) or if my roommate is messing with them. We tested them because we were concerned of them being replaced with something laced. My partner recently, since about January, (literally just realized this suspicious timing as I'm typing this out.) has been having a hard time waking up in the mornings. They've been extra tired some days after taking their morning meds, and then after taking them again at night, and sleeping all night, by morning it's been almost impossible to wake them up. Sometimes it takes two hours. It's a whole thing.

So this sleeping timeline kind of matches up with the medication script timeline. We're both really freaked out.

Some more context.. all three of us are addicts in recovery. We don't go to meetings really anymore. My partner and I have been clean for 2 years. My roommate has been clean (aside from drinking) for a few years ? Three I think?

Also why I'm curious and cautious. I never was into pills or was a dealer or anything, so I don't have any type of clue or experience to know what potentially could be happening.

My roommate has been staying out super late every night for a while now. We've suspected he's drinking every night because he does work at a bar/restaurant. However, there have been nights where he's getting home way after the bars are already closed.

We've had suspicions that maybe he's using ? We have no clue what is going on.

I have already talked to my landlord and have ordered a camera today for my room. I guess I'm coming here because I'm horribly anxious at the moment and even more anxious to catch him on the camera. I don't know if I should confront him or what, when that happens. He is literally unhinged when he's using. I only know the stories but an indication into him is that he burned down someone's mobile home once. He also generally has anger issues so he's honestly a wild card. I'm worried he will start really stealing stuff, or destroying my things or even harming my cats.

I don't know if I'm over thinking right now or what. I can't get out of the lease because I have no savings for a new place and I have already signed onto a new lease with 11 months left.

If anyone has some insight or thoughts, please please let me know what you think. Thanks.
