Biggest decision of my life rest in uncertainties

This is my first time on Reddit so please be kind. I (34F) have been in a long-distance relationship with (30M) for almost 3 years and we are both from diff countries. We’ve only met once in another country, but when we were together everything felt really good—we bonded well and communication was easy in person.

The issue is that we’re very different emotionally. He’s a very practical, realistic person, while I’m more emotional. A lot of the time, I feel like my emotional needs aren’t fully met, but I’ve kind of learned to live with it. And I appreciate the practical approach as it keeps me grounded not of the time both in the relationship as well as my life.

Recently, we’ve been seriously talking about getting married in Georgia because I’ve tried twice to get a visa to his country and was denied. We both want to start a life together as soon as possible.

But some things he’s said are making me feel uneasy.

While discussing marriage, he mentioned that if things don’t work out, then divorce would happen and I would just move back to my country and start over. I understand that divorce is always a possibility, but the way he said it made me feel like this is more of a “test” than a real commitment. I always thought marriage is more like, “we’ll face difficulties but we’ll try to make it work together.”

Another thing is that he said wedding rings are unnecessary and asked if we could skip them. I said yes in the moment, but honestly, it bothered me. I don’t want a big or fancy wedding, I actually prefer a simple civil ceremony, but I still feel like a ring is something meaningful.

Now I’m confused. I love him a lot, and we do have a strong connection in many ways, but these things are making me question whether he’s truly emotionally invested in the same way I am.

Are these unnecessary concerns or are these valid concerns before getting married?
