Trying Out a Modular Hunting Pack Setup — Curious How Others Would Run It
Hey everyone,
I’ve been experimenting with a modular expedition-style hunting pack recently (SIATREX APEX 5000), and wanted to share some early impressions while also getting feedback from people who’ve spent time in the backcountry.
One of the main things I’ve been focusing on is how the system adapts to different loadouts. The frame includes a torso adjustment range, which makes it easier to fine-tune the fit depending on body size and how much weight you’re carrying. Once adjusted, it helps distribute weight more evenly and improves overall comfort on longer treks.
The pack also supports multiple carry configurations for weapons. You can mount a rifle or compound bow in different positions depending on preference and terrain. The quick-release setup is designed so you can transition from carry to ready position with minimal movement.
On the hydration side, the system is designed to be flexible rather than fixed to a single solution. You can integrate hydration through different parts of the pack depending on how you configure it, which helps when running different setups for different trips.
I’m still testing how it performs across longer hunts and varied conditions, but I’m interested in how others approach their pack systems:
- Do you prefer fixed layouts or modular setups that you can reconfigure?
- How do you usually balance accessibility vs. stability when carrying weapons?
- What’s your go-to hydration setup in the field?
We’re also open to getting a few experienced users involved for testing and feedback if anyone is interested in trying it out and sharing honest thoughts.
Appreciate any input 👍
