After years of being a litter robot fan, the litter robot 5 might get me to switch back to a stainless steel litter box.

I’ve had every litter robot since the 3 (I’ve even bought a refurbished one) and have only had good things to say about machine and brand! However, the 5 is making me second guess everything and question my sanity. From the get go, the liner has been the dirtiest of all my machines from day one. It’s a pee and poo MAGNET. I have AT LEAST one error message every other day, including the dreaded overload error. Only once has it actually been overloaded, but the only way to clear it out is to… run a cycle WHICH IT REFUSES TO DO. It claims to clear out poop faster, but it never recognizes it and claims it’s always pee. I bought it primarily for the camera, and it only recording the outside, not the inside of the globe drives me insane. I’m not home often enough to track my cats’ trips, and hadn’t found a camera that worked with my older models. The recorded weights fluctuate SO MUCH MORE than my last model. It constantly dings to alert me of something (even in the middle of the night), but by the time I get to the machine, the alert is gone, and I’m never notified on my phone. The interior light is faulty. It doesn’t stay on when I turn it on in the app and I have sleep time enabled, but it’ll sporadically turn on the lights despite that during those hours.

Overall, just been really disappointed with this model. I could be alone in feeling this way, but it just feels like they shipped out a half baked product and slapped “AI technology” on there as the newest fad.
