Will I get a “point” for calling in sick without using PTO?

Question is pretty straightforward. I understand it can depend on the team leads and the managers but I’m wondering if the system will automatically give me one.

I’m also wondering because a handful of times now I’ve observed or been told that a manager has suggested using pto in place of requesting time off or having to go home.

Just confused as to why we would have to use it if we don’t want to.
