Wtf did the writers do to Quinni in season 3
After being recommended HH by a friend in 2023 I was so relieved to see some actual autistic representation in a TV show for once! The meltdown Quinni had in S1E6 “Angeline” was absolutely spot on in terms of authenticity, and there were several other times in that season where the portrayal was really good.
Then season 2 came around, and along with it the Bird Psycho plot. I liked how Quinni got hyper focused on investigating the case because again that’s absolutely spot on for what an autistic person would do if that situation happened irl. So you can see why leading up to the release of season 3 I was looking forward to seeing how Quinni would play a part in it.
The appearance of the sensory room in episode 1 was a good start, but then things went downhill. Why is Quinni joining the neurotypicals in being mean to Sasha, okay she has her reasons but I would’ve expected her to at least show a little sympathy. Then once she finds out Taz (OMG I HATE HER) was using the sensory room for her stupid business, yeah she’s pissed at first, but soon it’s almost like it never happened, they even got together for god’s sake! And then for some reason even after Taz ruined Quinni’s chances of getting her scholarship, again she just moves on like it’s nothing! This would’ve absolutely DESTROYED S1 or S2 Quinni. And HOW is she able to avoid fatigue from all those parties?
I’ve probably missed a bunch of other stuff so feel free to remind me.
I’d love to hear what you guys have to say about how the writers portrayed Quinni in S3 and how different it was compared to the previous two seasons (IMO). It would be interesting to hear Chloe Hayden’s take too. Maybe she can shed some light on why Quinni seems so different.
