🚨 Attention Iowa Residents: Kratom Ban Bills HF2133 & SF2192 🚨

PinnedNSFW

On March 17, Iowa House passed HF2133, a bill that would classify kratom and its alkaloids as Schedule I substances with harsh penalties.

Senate had a similar bill, SF2192, which passed committee but was moving slowly. They attached it to HF2133, which means the Senate can skip committee and bring it straight to debate and vote at any time with little notice. It’s currently marked as “unfinished business”, so a vote could happen suddenly.

Why this matters:

*Many senators aren’t fully aware of these bills yet. Your emails and calls can make a huge difference.

*We need to advocate for common-sense regulations like age gating and required lab testing, instead of outright prohibition.

âś…What you can do:

*Email your Iowa senators daily if possible.

*To make it easy, I will post all Iowa senator email addresses separated by commas in the comments.

*Copy them into the BCC field so senators don’t see it’s a mass email.

*Start your message with: “Dear Senator,”

*If you’re an Iowa resident, include your name, city, and ZIP code at the beginning. If you’re not an Iowa resident, you can just include your name.

*Share how kratom and its alkaloids help you personally.

*Ask them to oppose HF2133 and SF2192 and support common-sense regulations for consumer safety.

*Call the Iowa Senate switchboard at (515) 281-3371. Say the name of the senator you want to leave a message for. You can also call after hours and leave a voicemail.

*Use the list of email addresses from the comments to see which senator you are calling.

*Out-of-state supporters can help too! Your emails and calls are valuable.

Time is critical. Senate could vote any day with little warning, so every message matters. Let’s make sure our voices are heard💪
