Should I apologize after so long
In 8th grade I started talking to this girl from Brazil and we both really liked each other. (She here and goes to my school) She'd even ask if she was too clingy but I really loved that she wanted to talk so much. We only were able to hangout outside of church or school once because her parents would not let her go with just 1 boy so we went to the park with another boy and girl. My top song of the year was what she told me her favorite song was. Its still in my all time top played and I listen to music a lot. After a little over a month I asked her to be my girlfriend. She told me that her parents wouldnt allow it but we should continue our talking stage. (She said she could date at 16 and we were 13) feeling hurt by the sense of rejection and that if she didn't want me enough to be together despite the rule, was it even worth it. So I said that I didnt want to keep talking. A day or 2 later she messaged again and said she still wanted to be friends and didnt want to be over. Now im 16 its sophomore year and we have friendly chat in health class sometimes but I never apologize ld for what I said and did. For about a year I blamed her but then I thought about it and realized that I wasnt willing to meet her where she was and I was selfish. She needed a friend and I wanted a girlfriend. I was the only one to blame to be honest. She did date my friend a year later (not 16 yet btw) so I guess thats a note but doesnt matter much. I think I will apologize because I left her alone when she asked me to stay and that is wrong. But would you appreciate it? And I want to try again, its been years and we have both changed but I still feel so connected to her. I really do love her and she deserves at least an apology. But should I try to restart?
TLDR: I ended the relationship in 8th grade when she needed me, because I felt rejected even though she wanted to keep talking I cut things off. I have always loved her though its did not show it then and want to apologize and maybe try again. Would want the apology or be willing to try again in Sophomore year?
