Detective Vecna (Deerstalker) is the best tunneling build in the game
I didn't realize the implications of the new Deerstalker (you can see the aura of any survivor that can see your aura, and once every 30 seconds you see the aura of the lowest chase survivor) on the Lich until about last week, but it is absolutely wild.
- Vecna is the only killer in the game where survivors seeing your aura is part of his basekit. Every time he casts a spell, a survivor holding the associated magic item can see your aura for 1.5 seconds.
- Once survivors get magic items, pretty much every spell you cast will reveal someone's aura.
- You may think that is not so great, since you will mostly cast spells in chase (and not be looking across the map for aura reads).
- BUT, if you play scummy, Deerstalker allows you to tunnel without actually hardcamping or even softcamping.
- Once you down someone for the second time, put the dispelling sphere on them. It shows you what specific magic items that person has (without the dispelling sphere, you can just see on the HUD if someone has a boot and/or bracelet, but not the type).
- Remember the magic item(s) held by the guy on death hook, and run off to chase someone else. After your next hook (or heck, after just waiting a bit) cast the spell for that guy (it is possible you could get duplication and chase the wrong survivor, but if he has two magic items and you cast both spells you probably have your guy).
- I run with Rancor to be extra extra evil. You tunnel someone out that is not the obsession, but (if you've gotten the obsession once during the game and remember their items) they are next - Deerstalker them with one gen left, kill when the gen blows, and with No Way Out you can still probably kill 1 or 2 of the last 2 guys.
TLDR: Not great on anyone else, but once you try Deerstalker even once with the Lich you will never take it off. There is no other perk or killer in the game that has an on-demand aura read for a specific survivor.
