That last look in his eyes

How do you let go

of the only home your heart has known?

The air feels thinner when he’s gone,

like even breathing’s wrong alone.

We tried to build a perfect world

out of tired hands and trembling hope,

but love can’t stand on dreams alone

some days, even light runs out of rope.

I see it there, the hurt in his eyes,

the quiet storm I helped create.

All I want is to reach across time,

to kiss away the things we can't unmake.

Why can’t we get it right,

when love like this should bend the stars?

Maybe sometimes loving someone

means setting them free through broken hearts.

Still, in the silence after goodbye,

his name sits heavy in my chest.

I’ll love him, even as I learn

to love him less.
