Divorced parents a valid reason to ask for more financial aid?

I got into Boston University but I didnt get any financial aid cus my overall family income is too high (300k/yr). Despite this higher income, my family cant afford the 98k/yr price tag. I am considering asking the financial aid office for more aid, as i didnt recieve any.

Would my parents being divorced be a valid reason to give me more aid? My mom makes ~130k and my father makes ~170k before tax. Being divorced, the 300k income is essentially split with double the expenses of living separately in high cost-of-living NY.

I saw on BU's website that families making below 200k/yr had a net cost of attendance of 20k/yr, which is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the 98k/yr they want me to pay.

With all this in mind, is it even worth it to ask for an appeal?
